About Dioscorea Villosa Extract (Wild Yam Extract)
Dioscorea villosa (wild yam) is native to North America and has been widely used as a natural alternative for estrogen replacement therapy to improve women03s health as well as to treat inflammation, muscle spasm, and asthma. Diosgenin and dioscin (glycoside form of diosgenin) are reported to be the pharmacologically active compounds. 
Steroidal saponins such as diosgenin account for some of the activity of wild yam. Dioscorea Villosa Extract was also found in a clinical trial to have antioxidant properties and raised HDL.
