About Hyaluronidase
Hyaluronidase is a family of enzymes that catalyse the degradation of hyaluronic acid (HA).
Hyaluronidase is a general term for a class of enzymes that can reduce the activity of hyaluronic acid in the body.
Hyaluronidase is structurally composed of 4 identical subunits, each with a molecular weight of approximately 14 kDa. The enzyme is a glycoprotein containing 5% mannose and 2.2% glucosamine. Functionally, the enzyme randomly cleaves β-N-acetylhexosamine-[1→4] glycosidic linkages in hyaluronic acid, chondroitin, and chondroitin sulfate. It is often used in combination with collagenase to degrade the extracellular matrix, thereby isolating living cells from tissues.
Hyaluronidase is derived from sheep testes, provided in the form of freeze-dried powder, and its specific activity is ≥300units/mg solid.
