About Ranolazine
Ranolazine is an antianginal and antiischemic agent that acts by inhibiting the late effects of inward sodium currents (IC50 values for INa and IKr are 6 μM and 12 μM, respectively), without affecting heart rate or blood pressure. Ranolazine is also a partial inhibitor of fatty acid oxidation (FAO).
Ranolazine is a chronic angina drug that reduces the occurrence of cardiac arrhythmias, including ventricular arrhythmias, new-onset arterial fibrillation, and bradycardia due to coronary artery disease. The mechanism of action of Ranolazine is to partially inhibit fatty acid metabolism and induce glucose metabolism. Because glucose metabolism is more efficient than fatty acid metabolism, it promotes the heart to use oxygen more effectively, thereby significantly improving the symptoms of angina patients.
