About Secretin Acetate
Secretin acetate is a hormone that plays a crucial role in the digestive system. It is released by the small intestine in response to the presence of acidic chyme (partially digested food) entering the duodenum. Secretin acetate stimulates the pancreas to release bicarbonate-rich fluids, which helps neutralize the acidity of the chyme.
This hormone also regulates the production of digestive enzymes in the pancreas and inhibits the production of gastric acid in the stomach. By promoting the release of bicarbonate, Secretin acetate helps in maintaining the optimal pH for digestion in the small intestine.
