The effects of the synthetic peptide biomodulator Vilon on lymphocyte structure and facultative heterochromatin. The data obtained showed:
(a) Induces unfolding of total heterochromatin (deheterochromatin);
(b) Activation of synthetic processes caused by the reactivation of ribosomal genes as a result of deheterochromization of nucleolar organizing regions;
(c) Release of genes that have been repressed due to condensation of euchromatic regions to form facultative heterochromatin;
(d) Does not induce decondensation of structural heterochromatin around aggregates. Our results indicate that Vilon causes progressive activation (dechromation) of facultative heterochromatin with increasing aging.
