Rapeseed
Rapeseed is the seed of the rape or cole,a bright yellow flowering member of the family Brassicaceae (mustard or cabbage family). It is a chief crop in India, grown on 13% of cropped land.Until recently, rapeseed was a relatively unimportant crop. However, as soon as plant breeders were able to get rid of two undesirable substances, rapeseed started to become more interesting. Nowadays it is not only grown as a raw material for biodiesel, industrial oils, and lubricants, but also used as a source of cooking oil for margarine production.Rapeseed is an important food crop, a fact that was made possible through modern plant breeding.
