What is Semen Cuscutae?
Semen Cuscutae is a parasitic vine wrapping around other plants for nourishment. It is the dry semen from Cuscuta chinensis L., Cuscuta australis R. Br., or Cuscuta japonica choisy of Convolvulaceae family of plant. Today, Semen Cuscutae is used in Chinese medicine to invigorate the kidneys and consolidate kidney essence (jing), nourish the liver, improve eyesight, arrest diarrhea and soothe an unborn fetus. Blending specially well with Epimedium, semen cuscutae is thought to increase the effectiveness and boost the nitric oxide levels that are required for men to achieve erections.
